From time-to-time Chick Publications receives spectacular testimonies of the impact of the literature that God has given us to publish. This one is proof that the Truth is far more powerful than the empty rituals of Roman Catholicism.

About 5 years after I got saved I ordered all the big Chick comic books and when they came I read them all in one day. I had so much truth infused into me that you could literally knock me over with a pin. That was about 30 years ago. I knew at that time that I just had to share the Gospel with my Catholic mother, Lilia.

When I first went to my Lithuanian mother, she told me that “she was born a Catholic, and she will die a Catholic.” I responded with what I believe the Holy Spirit said to me. “Mom, the Bible says that you were born in sin, do you want to die in sin?”

My mother was a faithful Catholic all her life, going to mass every week, and even having a big statue of Mary on her dresser. Unbeknownst to me, she had started Catholic Bible study at her church and was frustrated that her many questions that she had were not being answered. They would rush through the study so fast that she felt she did not get much out of it.

So I gave her the Alberto series to read. That series is a bombshell about a major whistleblower from the very depths of Catholicism. After my mother read a few of them she was all too ready to get saved. I led her and my brother, who also read the comics, to the Lord.

After that we found a very good Bible-believing church where my mother joined the Bible study and got all of her questions answered by a wonderful pastor who did not speed-read through the Bible. She joined some ministries there, translated 2 of the Chick tracts into Lithuanian as she prayed for her native countrymen, and she was on fire for the Lord, handing out many tracts, leading people to the Lord, and praying for many people around the world.

About a year and a half ago, at 83, she went to be with our Lord. I felt impressed at that time to use the Scripture from Psalms 116:15, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” My mother left a wonderful legacy of her trust in Jesus and now she sees Him face to face.
