Hope of Israel Seeks Lost Sheep

From Genesis onward, God has made His heart for Israel clear. Scripture says, “I will bless them that bless thee...” (Genesis 12:3). Throughout history, many believers have understood that blessing Israel includes caring about where Jewish people will spend eternity. If the Gospel is “to the Jew first” (Romans 1:16), then reaching them with the message of Christ remains a vital mission field.

Hope of Israel Baptist Mission takes this seriously. While many ministries struggle to identify where outreach efforts can make the greatest impact, Hope of Israel has spent years learning where Jewish communities live, gather, and interact. That focus enables them to place Gospel literature directly into the hands of people who may otherwise never be specifically reached.

This year, Hope of Israel is preparing for a large-scale outreach effort to distribute tracts across several key eastern cities where Jewish communities gather in significant numbers. Four cities stand at the center of the outreach: New York, Boston, Miami, and Atlanta.

Jewish Communities in New York

New York will be a major focus. Teams plan to work in neighborhoods throughout Brooklyn and Queens, areas known for large Russian and Ukrainian-speaking Jewish populations.

To help connect with those communities, the ministry will distribute titles such as Love the Jewish People and Passover Plot in English, Russian, and Ukrainian. Literature in a person's heart language often opens doors that otherwise remain closed. A tract someone can easily understand becomes an instantaneous conversation starter and a gateway to the gospel.

Strategic Opportunity in Boston

Boston is home to the fourth-largest Jewish population in the United States, making it another strategic location for ministry. The historic city park also sees approximately 10,000 visitors pass through daily. This combination creates a unique opportunity where both the lost sheep of Israel and the nations can hear the gospel.

During a previous outreach effort, two team members alone encountered people from Canada, Israel, Mexico, Great Britain, Algeria, Colombia, China, Haiti, Russia, Afghanistan, Jordan, Lebanon, Iran, Brazil, Guatemala, Laos, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Jamaica, India, Pakistan, Italy, France! Many more nations were encountered by the remaining 18 team members.

Tract blitzes in places like this are unique opportunities to reach people who wouldn’t hear about the gospel otherwise. In many cases, a person visiting from another country who receives a Chick tract during a stop in America will often carry it home across an ocean to friends and family on the other side of the world.

Open Doors Abound

Miami has a large Jewish population of around 120,000 people, and Atlanta remains on the ministry's radar, as well. In places like these, where most people only see entertainment venues and vacation getaways, Hope of Israel sees a mission field.

And while language-specific tracts remain important, passing out English titles serve a secondary purpose. Many people speak English as a second language and welcome the opportunity to read something interesting and engaging while practicing their English skills.

Passing out English tracts also enables the team to reach countless native English speakers during the same outreaches. For many recipients, the tract they are given may become the first gospel message they have ever received.

Sharing Jesus with the Jews

Reaching Jewish communities requires people willing to seek them out, meet them where they are, and place the Gospel directly into their hands.

Hope of Israel has built a ministry around doing exactly that. Their efforts serve as a reminder that blessing Israel includes sharing the message of the Messiah with the people God first called His own.

In the past, Chick customers have helped purchase tracts for Hope of Israel’s outreach campaigns. This year, the ministry needs 120,000 Chick tracts to reach Jewish people across the nation. Hope of Israel is purchasing many of the tracts themselves, while trusting the Lord to supply the remaining need. If you would like to help meet this need, you can call Chick Publications at 909-987-0771.

As soon as Hope of Israel receives these tracts, teams will begin placing them into the hands of Jewish men and women across America—giving many an opportunity to hear the Good News, perhaps for the very first time.
