The Vatican and the World Council of Churches are planning a three-year project together to come up with a "common code for religious conversions." Their first meeting in Italy in May also included representatives of other faiths including Jews, Hindus, Muslims and Buddhists.

In that meeting, general guidelines were drawn up affirming that, "Freedom of religion is a fundamental, inviolable and non-negotiable right of every human being in every country of the world." However, also included was a statement that the "obsession of converting others" needs to be cured.

Conspicuous by their absence from the meetings were the evangelical and Pentecostal representatives. Fortunately, these Bible believers already have a "code of conversion" namely, the great commission. They also know that Jesus nixed any discussion on ecumenism when he said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me."

For the Vatican's part, the pope would love to do anything to slow or stop the rapid converting of Roman Catholics by evangelicals, particularly in Latin America and Africa. For 500 million who are represented by the WCC, unity has become more important than truth. This is evidenced by their present struggle over homosexual bishops as well as including pagan religious leaders in the discussion on "conversion."

All of these groups would like nothing better than to "cure the obsession" of those who are committed to obeying the great commission. Around the world, Satan is desperate to stop the gospel from transforming lives and decreasing the potential population of hell.

It is indeed sad that the 500 million represented by the WCC and over 1 billion Roman Catholics are trapped in falsehood while carrying the name "Christian." They have been deceived by perverted bibles, believing that we no longer have the preserved Words of God and, therefore, subject to their own interpretation.

Jesus said that only a small number would respond to the Gospel. But we need to use mass techniques to find them. Not everyone we meet will have time to stop and discuss their eternal destiny.

But we can get the gospel into their hand in a couple of seconds by handing them a tract. With a little more effort we can blanket an area near our home or church. Then the Holy Spirit can work on their hearts and those who will respond can be saved." The apostle Paul said that he planted the gospel, Apollos watered it, but God gave the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6).

But we must sew the seed to start the process. Otherwise there will be no harvest.
