Dear ones in Christ,
My friend Tim Berends passes out 300 tracts a day to reach some of the 41 million people worldwide who visit Las Vegas each year. Tim shines when he tries to give a believer in Christ a tract, and they turn him down, saying, "Oh, I don`t need that. I`m saved." Tim answers, "Then you can give it to someone else." Some take it. But others pull back and avoid him at all costs. Believe me, Christians like that are nailed by the scriptures and will stand before the Lord Jesus Christ. They will have to give an account for why they ignored the lost.
We produce soul winning tracts, because in Ezekiel 3:18 we are given a direct order. "When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning ...his blood will I require at thine hand." Beloved, we are responsible. But even if we don`t have time to warn them, a gospel tract placed in their hand can do its job. Untold thousands have come to Jesus that way.
God warns us twice on this issue. Proverbs 24:11-12 says, "If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death (and hell), and those that are ready to be slain (the unsaved); If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not (and we know flat-out the lost will be cast into the lake of fire) ...he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?"
It doesn`t matter whether we don`t really care, or we are too afraid. We are all guilty.
You`ve heard what people say. "We must reach them, one by one, by our lifestyle," or "Tracts are offensive." This fiction was instigated by Satan and his Jesuits. Our theological seminaries are filled with Jesuit-influenced books. Professors kill soul winning and criticize the scriptures. They wouldn`t be caught dead passing out a tract. Neither would their students, who become the new pastors. Then they are also against soul winning.
But soul winning is our responsibility, not our church`s. There are thousands we have never warned. But we have gospel tracts that can reach them, even when we don`t have time. It`s a small thing to us. But it`s life or death to them.
Your brother in Christ,
Jack Chick
